New York Safety Patrol is a not-for-profit organization operating within the confines of NYC. The goal of our volunteers is to make the city we live in a safer place. Volunteers participate in active street patrols on foot, and in unmarked vehicles and communicate via private 2 way radios.

New York Safety Patrol accepts volunteers who do not have a criminal record and are not members of a gang or racial hate group. In order to join New York Safety Patrol, applicants must be at least 21 years of age. New York Safety Patrol members are prohibited from carrying weapons. Many are trained in first aid and CPR, law, conflict resolution, communication, and basic self-defense. Members are paired up and follow the directions of a Patrol Supervisor. Our members respond to a wide array of issues ranging anywhere from House/Car Lock-Outs to actual crimes in progress. New York Safety Patrol maintains a close relationship with the NYPD and other law enforcement angencies as well as other volunteer patrol groups. The sharing of information and crime statisctics between us and the NYPD is necessary in order to identify crime patterns in specific areas so that we may focus our efforts in the areas that need it most.
